Where the name comes from

Nefo comes from “nefes”, Turkish for breath. The app says it too: your breath is coming back.

At the heart of Nefo there’s no mascot, but a bronchial tree made of light. The light fills up along with your health milestones: the first hours light up quickly, then weeks and months keep the glow growing; by the end of the first year the whole tree is lit. In the years after, the tips slowly turn gold.

Craving moments

When a craving hits, tap Breathe.

The Breathe button sits in the middle of the app, always within reach. One tap starts a five-minute breathing break: breathe in for 4 seconds and out for 6, together with the lungs on screen.

Health timeline

Recovery starts in the first 20 minutes.

The Health screen explains what changes in your body after your last cigarette, in 12 milestones. Each one is based on information from the World Health Organization (WHO) or the UK National Health Service (NHS). If you like, Nefo lets you know when you reach a new one.

Counter and savings

Watch the days and the savings add up.

The Today screen shows how long you’ve been smoke-free, down to the hour, along with the money you’ve saved and the cigarettes you haven’t smoked. It’s all based on the amount and price you enter during setup.

You don’t need an account to use Nefo. Your quit date, habit, cravings and goals are stored only on your iPhone; Nefo has no server that collects data. Purchases go through Apple, so your payment details never reach Nefo.

Is Nefo free?
Yes, you can download and use Nefo for free. The counter, savings, the health timeline with 12 milestones, the glowing lungs, Home Screen widgets and the craving breathing break are all free. Support in a craving is never paid. Nefo Plus is optional.
What’s in Nefo Plus?
The craving journal and insights, a personal quit plan (gradual cut-down or seven-day preparation), savings goals, Lock Screen widgets, lung and card themes, and tracking more than one product at once. You can get Plus yearly, monthly or as a one-time lifetime purchase. The yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
How is the health timeline calculated?
From the time since your last cigarette. The timing and text of each milestone are based on what the WHO or the NHS publish about the benefits of quitting, and the source is shown next to each one. Timings vary from person to person. The milestones are general information, not a measurement of your body.
Is my data shared with anyone?
No. Nefo has no account, no ads and no analytics. Your quit date, habit, cravings and goals are stored only on your iPhone. When you buy Nefo Plus, Apple processes the payment; your subscription status is checked through RevenueCat using an anonymous ID that doesn’t include your name or email.
Does it work for vapes or hookah?
Yes. During setup you can choose cigarettes, rolling tobacco, heated tobacco, a vape or hookah. For vapes and hookah you enter your use per week. Tracking more than one product at once is part of Nefo Plus. The health milestones are based on sources about quitting smoking; for other products the timings may differ.
What if I slip?
That’s okay; many people slip on the way to quitting. Tap “I had one” on the Today screen and choose how to carry on: keep your counter and have your savings adjusted, or reset the counter for a fresh start. Your previous streak stays in your profile.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name at the top, then go to Subscriptions › Nefo Plus › Cancel Subscription. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. If you cancel the free trial at least 24 hours before it ends, you won’t be charged. Lifetime isn’t a subscription and never renews.
Does Nefo give medical advice?
No. Nefo is a motivation and tracking app, not a medical device. The health milestones are for general guidance and timings vary from person to person. If you use medication or nicotine replacement therapy, or have any health concerns, talk to your doctor.
