Stuck on something?
Steps for the most common tasks are below. You reach Kertik’s settings with the gear icon at the top right of the Today screen. If you can’t find what you need, write to me; the person who makes Kertik reads every email.
How do I…?
Check a day and undo it
- On the Today tab, press and hold the habit’s card.
- When the ring around the button closes, the day is checked, with a tap of haptics and a flap sound.
- To undo, hold the card again.
For counted habits (such as water), every tap on the round button adds one and holding it takes one off. You can turn haptics and the board sound off under Settings › General.
Fix a past day, add a note
- Tap the habit’s card to open its details.
- Tap the day you want to fix in the month calendar.
- In the section below, tap Mark done or Unmark; you can also write a note for that day.
Use the arrows above the calendar to go to earlier months.
Back up and restore
Kertik has no server; the only copies of your habits are on your phone and in the backups you make. A backup is a JSON file you save yourself.
- Tap Settings › Data › Back up.
- In the share sheet, choose Save to Files and pick a place. Pick iCloud Drive and you can reach the backup from your other devices too.
- To restore, tap Settings › Data › Restore a backup and choose the file. The backup’s habits replace your current data.
Apple Health data is never included in backups.
Change phones
- On your old phone, make a backup and save the file to iCloud Drive or another place your new phone can reach.
- Install Kertik on your new phone.
- Tap Settings › Data › Restore a backup and choose the backup file.
- If you have Kertik Pro, restore your purchases. If you use Apple Health, connect Health again on the new phone.
Set up reminders
Habit reminder: in the habit’s details, tap the edit icon at the top right, turn on Reminder and pick a time. It nudges you at that time on planned days, and stays quiet if you’ve already done it.
Evening reminder: under Settings › Reminders, turn on Evening reminder; you can change its time in 15-minute steps (it starts at 9 pm). If planned habits are still open, one notification arrives at that time.
No notifications? On your iPhone, check that notifications are allowed under Settings › Notifications › Kertik.
Connect Apple Health (Kertik Pro)
- Tap Settings › General › Apple Health and allow the data to be read on iOS’s permission screen.
- Edit a habit of the Do type; under Apple Health, choose steps, exercise, mindful minutes or sleep and set your goal.
- When Kertik opens and while it stays open, it checks the day you reach the goal by itself.
Kertik only reads Health data and never takes it off your iPhone. You can withdraw access under Settings › Privacy & Security › Health › Kertik on your iPhone.
Add a widget
Home Screen (free)
- Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen.
- Tap Edit at the top left, then Add Widget.
- Choose Kertik, pick the small, medium or large size and tap Add Widget.
Tapping a circle on the widget checks that habit without opening the app.
Lock Screen (Kertik Pro)
Touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, then the Lock Screen, and add Kertik from the widget area.
Cancel Kertik Pro
- On your iPhone, open Settings and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions, then Kertik Pro.
- Choose Cancel Subscription.
A subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel a free trial at least 24 hours before it ends and you won’t be charged. After you cancel, Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. The lifetime plan isn’t a subscription, so there’s nothing to cancel. For refunds, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
Restore purchases
To turn Kertik Pro on on a new iPhone or after reinstalling the app, tap Settings › Support › Restore purchases, or the same button on the Kertik Pro screen.
Purchases belong to your Apple account; your iPhone must be signed in with the Apple account you bought with. Restoring purchases doesn’t bring back your habits; for those, restore your backup.
Delete your data
To delete a single habit, tap the edit icon at the top right of its details, then Delete habit; its marks and notes go too. To delete everything, tap Settings › Data › Erase all data and confirm. This can’t be undone.
Deleting the app also removes all of its data, but does not cancel a Kertik Pro subscription. Backup files you saved stay where you saved them. Details in the privacy policy.
