Stuck on something?
Steps for the most common tasks are below. If you can’t find what you need, write to me; I build Gritcard and I read every email myself.
How do I…
Restore purchases
To unlock Gritcard Pro on a new iPhone, or after reinstalling the app:
- Tap the gear icon on the Card tab to open Settings.
- Tap Restore purchases. The same button is also at the bottom of the Gritcard Pro screen.
Your purchase is tied to your Apple Account. Make sure your iPhone is signed in with the Apple Account you used to buy it.
Cancel a subscription
- On your iPhone, open Settings and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions, then Gritcard Pro.
- Choose Cancel Subscription.
A subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period. If you cancel the free trial at least 24 hours before it ends, you won’t be charged. After cancelling, Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel the subscription. The lifetime plan isn’t a subscription, so there’s nothing to cancel. For refunds, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
How stats work
- Your card has six stats: BOD (Body), MND (Mind), FOC (Focus), SOC (Social), DIS (Discipline) and SLP (Sleep). Each one sits between 30 and 99.
- When you check off a task, each stat it trains gets +2. A task or habit trains at most two stats.
- A stat gains at most +6 in a day. A fourth task for the same stat earns it nothing more, and the task’s row says “Today’s max”.
- OVR is the average of the six stats. You reach silver at 65 OVR, gold at 75 and legend (Pro) at 87.
If you uncheck a task, the points it gave are taken back.
Why my stats dropped
Every stat that no task trained that day drops by 0.8 overnight. That way your card is honest about what you neglect.
- Days you don’t open the app at all count as empty days too.
- If you come back after a long break, at most two weeks of drops are applied.
- To stop the drop, check off just one task that trains that stat.
Streak and form card
- Streak: every day you finish at least three tasks adds a day to your streak. A day with fewer than three tasks starts it over.
- Perfect day: a day you finish all of its tasks, meaning the three suggestions and all of your habits.
- Form card: after seven perfect days in a row, your card turns into a holographic form card for a week. The form card is part of the free version too.
Add a widget
Home Screen (free)
- Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen.
- Tap Edit in the top-left corner, then Add Widget.
- Pick Gritcard from the list, choose small or medium and tap Add Widget.
Lock Screen (Gritcard Pro)
- Unlock with Face ID or Touch ID but stay on the Lock Screen, then touch and hold it.
- Tap Customize, then the Lock Screen.
- Tap the widget area and add Gritcard’s OVR ring, rectangular or inline widget.
Connect Apple Health
Automatic stats with Apple Health are part of Gritcard Pro. Once connected, the matching tasks check themselves when your steps, sleep and workouts reach their goals.
- Tap the gear icon on the Card tab to open Settings.
- Turn on Automatic with Apple Health.
- On the Health screen that opens, allow read access for steps, sleep and workouts.
The goals are 8,000 steps, 7 hours of sleep and a 30-minute workout. The data is read only on your iPhone and never sent anywhere. To change permissions, open the Health app, tap your profile picture, go to Apps under Privacy and select Gritcard.
Change the name on my card
- Tap the gear icon on the Card tab to open Settings.
- Type your new name in Name on the card.
The same section lets you pick your card’s foil. The classic foil is free; the other foil themes come with Gritcard Pro.
Delete my data
Everything in Gritcard is stored only on your device. To delete all of it, touch and hold the Gritcard icon on your Home Screen, choose Delete App and confirm. Your card, history, habits and settings are permanently deleted.
Deleting the app doesn’t cancel a Gritcard Pro subscription. More in the privacy policy.
Reminder not showing up
- On your iPhone, go to Settings › Notifications › Gritcard and turn on Allow Notifications.
- In Gritcard’s Settings, make sure Evening reminder is on.
- If a Focus (such as Do Not Disturb or Sleep) is on, add Gritcard to its allowed apps.
The reminder comes only on evenings when your tasks aren’t done, and only once.
Move my purchase to a new phone
Tap Restore purchases at the bottom of the Gritcard Pro screen. Your purchase is tied to your Apple Account; just sign in with the same one.
Your card and history are kept on your device. If you set up your new iPhone from your old phone’s backup, they come along with it.
